On 16 May 2026, this fully automated light rail officially entered commercial operation as a flagship Belt-and-Road project, inaugurated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Entrusted as a key fire-safety partner, GST was tasked with securing safe, reliable operations for the region’s first unmanned line under extreme local climate conditions.
Driverless transit leaves no room for error. The project demanded:
• Intelligent, high-reliability monitoring across all stations, viaducts, and equipment rooms
• Large-scale device deployment with stable multi-loop network management
• Full Russian-language localization — device panels, software interfaces, and manuals tailored to local workflows
• EAC certification for full compliance with Kazakhstan’s market-access requirements

GST delivered a custom-engineered, integrated fire alarm and interlocking control solution built for automated light-rail environments. Self-developed fire-alarm controllers support hundreds of control loops, forming a resilient line-wide monitoring network. The deployment features:
- 10,000+ field devices — smoke and heat detectors, manual call points, sounder beacons, fire-telephone units, gas-extinguishing controllers, and CRT graphic central monitoring workstations
- Complete Russian-language customization across all interfaces and documentation for seamless local adoption
- EAC-certified compliance, fully meeting Kazakhstan’s regulatory standards. The system now delivers round-the-clock, full-coverage fire-risk detection and emergency interlock response for Central Asia’s pioneering driverless rail system. By embedding localized design at every touchpoint, GST has significantly reduced operational, training, and maintenance barriers for local teams — demonstrating proven expertise in end-to-end fire-safety solutions for complex international rail-transit projects.

Global Rail-Transit Footprint
Beyond the Astana LRT, GST empowers safe rail mobility worldwide:
